Waterspring EIS Fund

The Waterspring Ventures mission is to make Wales the place to start and successfully scale a business in the UK.

The Waterspring EIS Fund offers investors the opportunity to build stakes in exciting early-stage companies in Wales, whilst benefiting from the generous tax reliefs under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS). We raise £2m per year from a select group of investors who have themselves had a successful career and want to help the next generation of entrepreneurs.

We assess hundreds of companies on our investors’ behalf and select up to three new investments every year. We also lead the negotiation, due diligence and legal processes. After each new investment, we manage the issuing of EIS certifications in order for our investors to claim the relevant tax reliefs with ease.

Each investor will have a portfolio of up to five companies. We aim to return 3-5x capital over 4-7 years.

Why invest with us

  • Multi-exit track record

We’re a team of experienced value creators with an enviable track record. We’ve achieved exits in excess of £300m and advise on over £200m worth of transactions each year.

  • Connected

We develop strategic relationships with local accelerators, angel investors, corporate advisors, non-executive directors, universities and co-working spaces. As such we have access to a wide range of deal flow and assess a large volume of proposals.

  • Better value and protection

In return for Waterspring investing larger sums of capital than individual angels, we are able to negotiate more attractive terms and gain access to the most sought-after companies. Furthermore, we can demand stronger investor protections, board representation and consent right matters.
